Questions about your quote check
A few details can help you understand the records and decide what to ask next.
Read the Florida contractor license checklistIs Check My Quote free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it’s free. You can check the business name and license number on your quote without creating an account or providing an email address.
What does this contractor quote check compare?
It compares the name on your quote and the Sunbiz filing you select with available DBPR records for the exact license number you enter. It helps you spot differences and missing connections. It does not assess the quoted price, review contract terms, or confirm workmanship, insurance, or the license’s suitability for your project.
Does an active Sunbiz filing mean a contractor is licensed?
No. Sunbiz provides business registration information. Contractor licensing is a separate check through DBPR or the relevant licensing authority. An active business filing alone does not establish that a contractor holds the license needed for your work. See what Sunbiz and DBPR each tell you.
What if the quote and license show different names?
A quote may use a trade name or DBA, while a license record may name the individual who qualifies the business. A difference needs clarification; it is not automatically evidence of wrongdoing. Ask for the full legal business name and how it connects to the license holder. Work through a name or license mismatch.
Does an unconfirmed result mean the contractor is unlicensed?
No. A connection may be unconfirmed because records are missing, names are ambiguous, or a source could not be searched. Recheck the details and use the official sources before drawing a conclusion. Learn how we handle matches and missing information.
How current are the records in my result?
Results show when the Sunbiz information was retrieved or saved. DBPR comparisons use records stored in MCR’s database; the last import date is currently unverified. A search timestamp is not the date DBPR last updated a record. Confirm current license status directly with DBPR before hiring.
